Remove fingerprints, grime, stuck-on food, and dust with these surprisingly simple hacks.
1. Dish soap
Many people often overlook the power of dish soap for cleaning other items in their house – like cabinets, for example. Dish soap is great for cleaning all types of cabinets including metal, plastic laminate, vinyl, or painted wood. All you need to do is dampen a soft cloth with warm water and a touch of dish soap and give the cabinets a wipe. It will remove fingerprints, grease stains, and food smudges in a breeze.
SF Gate has this incredible trick to remove hard, dried-on food. “Remove dried gooey materials such as maple syrup, chocolate or honey with a few ice cubes placed in a zippered sandwich bag. Hold the bag of ice over the problem spot for several minutes or until the substance hardens. Scrape the substance away with the edge of a plastic knife, back of a plastic spoon, or a piece of cardstock.”
